Greens and fairways in good condition, needs shorter rough grass areas. Does not seem like a mountain course, more like a rolling hills course. Course snack bar not opening until May. Very good restaurant in the lodge.

I've always loved playing this course, and I look forward to it every year during our church Family Retreat. It's a great "getaway day" for the guys, and a time of wonderful bonding. The course is always in good shape, despite some of the drought conditions we've had in WV during recent years, and is an excellent example of Geoffrey Cornish's hanidwork. The scenery is beautiful, and the deer that inhabit the course are spectacular. The only drawback, as is the case on many courses, are the geese (I refer to them as "the cows of the air")that leave their droppings everywhere. Othere than that, Pipestem is a wonderful place to spend a few hours in pursuit of that elusive "best round ever."
